OT: Has anyone read...

The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon? It's a historical romance. It's the first romance type book I've ever read. I'm into science fiction. Outlander almost has a scifi aspect to it since it involves time travel. Anyhow I'm reading book number 5 and I'm just loving it.

I will have to tell dh that is what I want for Christmas! Although I hardly ever have time to read, it will take me YEARS to get through it. So there are 5 books? He will be so happy he gets to go book buying!

You know I'm not a big reader and when a friend of mine lent me this book I took one look at it thought she doesn't know me at all. It was 800 pages long. Anyhow I started to read it and then couldn't put it down. 800 pages went by quickly. Now I'm on to book 5 which is 1000 pages long! Worse yet there isn't a little paperback. My mom bought me the hardcover. It's a huge book. I read it everyday while waiting for my son to get out of school. I have to get there 30 minutes early to get a close safe parking spot. So, for 30 minutes a day I read. I bet people are wondering why it's taken me nearly 3 months to read a book. I'm in the home stretch now. I've read 3/4 of the way through it.

I loved those books. I'm thinking about reading all of them again! She has a new one out about Lord John Grey, but I haven't read that one yet.

I have that one and gave it to my mom, cause I'm still working my way through the Fiery Cross. I'm waiting to here how it was. It will be next on my list.

I love that series Lynne. I found by book 5 the story was getting heavy going but I love the first 3 the best. "Cross Stitch & Dragonfly in Amber are the first 2" There will be another one out maybe next year! Angela

I too love the series. I loved the first two books best. The latest is getting heavy, (I keep on putting it aside and coming back to it after reading something else) but I think she does a much better job of explaining what came before than se did in say book 3. Seems to me there was an enormous time gap between this book and the one that came before.

It took me a while to get into this 5th book, but I'm hooked now. I feel right at home with Jamie and Claire again.
