YAHOO!!!!!!! Good news on Doctor front.

My OB/Gyn just called. I'm broken but I can be fixed and we may not need IVF. He has determined I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and with medication I can be fixed. thank god. I go monday for an ultrasound and start the medication.

There's hope, Kate. When I had my first child I was told I would probably not be able to have another. (twisted uterus, cysts, etc...) When DS was 10 months old we got the chance to adopt our oldest DD as an infant (in family adoption). Then when I got pregnant 8 years later we were surprised. Then youngest DD arived nine years after that when I was 38 years old we were shocked. I had a tubal after her as were were definitely done, but 4 years later youngest DS arrived. I had a hysterectomy after that. By the time he arrived the grandchildren were arriving too. Keep a positive outlook and you will be fine. God works things out in his own way.....we're still trying to figure out what we did to be blessed with youngest DS.

Glad you have a diagnosis...that's the first step. I also have PCOS, and take metformin to treat the insulin resistance that usually comes with it. I was on it for a year and a half when I got pregnant with my daughter. PCOS makes conceiving a bit more difficult, but not impossible. I hope everything works out for you!

That's great news Kate. I'm reading a book right now about nutrition. I eat so unhealthily that I feel my body chemistry is completely out of whack and I don't even know where to start to fix things. So, I started reading this book. Anyhow one of the things that can go wrong with my problem eating too many simple carbohydrates is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). I didn't think much about it as my child bearing days are over, but when I read your email I thought you may want to take a look at this book. It's called "The Sugar Solution" by the editors of Prevention Magazine. Page 8 has the specific paragraph. Don't buy it yet just go sit in the books store and read a little. I might have something of use. OR maybe the doctor has suggestions on eating plans.

I will keep you in my prayers that you can avoid the surgery and get pg with just the meds...not sure if this group is still active but hopefully you can find some support there--
