OT: Have to brag!

I just have to brag on my brother & sister. Both of them found out yesterday that they've been nominated into Who's Who Among American Teachers. This is a big thing here in the US, and only 5% of teachers get honored this way. My brother teaches high school special education, and my sister teaches 3rd grade. I'm so proud of them! What's even cooler is that it's students who nominate the teachers, and those students have been in the Who's Who Among American High School Students, National Dean's List, or Who's Who...(etc) - Sports Edition. Wow...to think my sister has been teaching 3rd grade long enough to have a student in high school. I wonder if she's realized that? I don't know that I want to point that out to her, though. LOL

Send my congratulations to them! That is such an honor! I didn't know that students were the ones that nominated the teachers! Go ahead and point that out to your sis..can she take a joke like that? LOL

I think so many incredible teachers are so under appreciated in this country - it's great to hear a story of appreciation!!!

I agree...but no clue what to do. I'm in AR, and they're in NM. But it would be nice to give them a framed layout when we go out there this summer. Maybe the newspaper there put an announcement in the paper. I know each of them received a letter in the mail giving them the news, so I could leave space for a copy of the letter. A current pic of each of them would be good, even better if it was them in their classroom. Great, Lynne....another project to do! What have you started? LOL

If you find out there was something in the paper, you might try contacting them & see if you can get a copy in PDF format to print on nice paper so it won't yellow like newsprint. We submit all our newspaper ads in PDF format & they keep them available online (you can get whole copies of a page as it appears in the paper) in PDF format. Just a thought.

Congrats to your two wondeful family members who are being honored! I come from a long line of teachers and I know what this means.One of my brothers teaches high school and his wife teaches special ed. Two of my brothers are college professors and their wives teach music. I know you are very proud of them!
