Silly question but I have to ask.

I have a something I would like to post but I don't know if it's ok to post it or not (it's nothing dirty or anything like that and it has to do with yarn..well kind of..) Anyway, I didn't want to just go post it without asking? Is, there a group owner that I could ask if it's ok to post what I want to say? Or maybe a group rules list or something that I can look at before I go and post it?

Thanks,

This group is not moderated, so you can just go ahead and post whatever you like! It is preferred that postings relate to the topic of the newsgroup -- in this case "yarn", whether directly or tangentially. Advertisements aren't generally appreciated. Nor is obscene matter. Jokes are welcomed! If something is off topic, a simple OT at the front of the subject line is apppreciated. Welcome!

Well I thought I found what I wanted but I am not sure. Your answer does help some tho..

Here this is what I was doing.. I have a few people that visit my blog's from time to time. I started doing little games with them. Like last time I made a video up of a stitch I was doing. I asked if anyone knew the stitch and then had them guess what I was making. The first person to guess it won one skein of yarn and a horseshoe hook (I can't give-a-way big prizes only things that I make or a simple skein of yarn. Shipping alone cost money...)

Anyway, I was wondering if it's ok to post about doing things like this on here or not? I don't want anyone to think I am someone spamming them because I am not. I have no dirty stuff on my sites either. I just didn' t want to post about it without asking someone if it was ok because someone might get upset and thing I was spam or something.

Is this kind of stuff ok to post? If, so let me know and I'll tell you what I am doing this time.

Thanks,

Dora Renee' Wilkerson

Well, it's knitting related, and as a simple description it's fine. (This is a non-binary, no-pictures newsgroup, so trying to post the pictures or the videos themselves wouldn't work, but you weren't suggesting that anyway.)

Feel free to join in the discussions.

Most people put their blog URLs or websites (etc) in their four-line signature files, so it's discreetly present in every post they make.

Ok, how about this.. I updated my blog with knitting and crafting things (and other things that I am doing.) If, you'd like to see pictures and video's of them I have them on there. Sometimes I do little like product reviews or the newest thing I am doing is talking about OTHER people instead of myself for a change. Other people who make things (I am calling it my "spotlight".) If, anyone would like to see any of this your more then welcome to come check it out at

Hide quoted text ->> - Show quoted text - Ok, here I go... I have a few readers (not too many but it's growing..) Anyway, every once and a while I do a little contest. It's nothing BIG that I can give away. This time it's just one skein of yarn and a horseshoe hook that we made (that's the same thing I gave away last time. With shipping cost and everything that's all I can do for my readers at this time.) The first time I did a stitch on a loom and had everyone guessing the stitch and what I was making. The person who guess the project won. This time it's just a hide and seek game. I put some where on one of my two blogs in a sentence my favorite ice cream. When they find it they are to post it under comments. In a weeks time one of my kids will guess a number and that number in the comments will win. Like I said it's nothing fancy but it keeps people reading and it's something to do.

If, this is something I shouldn't post next time I wont. I wasn't sure about it really. I don't think of it like spam because it's not dirty things or a joke. I really do give away things but not much.

Well what do you think? Is it something that is ok to post in the future?

Katherine, Thank-you! I will keep posting. I think here in the next couple of days I'll have a few new projects to tell you all about. Today tho, I gotta get my kids back to school and get things back to normal around here.

I miss my children immensely Mirjam, every day. I was very involved with all 3 and miss the precious times we had together. I also cherish them also, I don't look at them being on their own in a sad way. Now they know why I feel the way I do. That is good. :)

Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail
