OT: Hello everyone!! WARNING: LONG

I have returned, again. I was lurking as life was really nutz. Tammy I am sorry to hear about your Brother-in-Law. I'll keep your SIL in my thoughts as she deals with everything now. Jacqui, I did a happy dance when I read your scan was clean!! YEAH!! Cec, I am so pleased that all is going well with your nephew. I hope it has continued to be smooth. April!!! I am sooo jealous, a cruise to indulge your passion! Lucky you!! And I know you will take tons of pictures. Dave, happy belated birthday! I love the birthday present you bought yourself! Looks like a wonderful cabinet.

Life has been so crazy. I think things are starting to settle down. As many of you know my DS #1 was joining the Army Reserve; was to go to boot camp this summer then upon graduation next spring transfer into regular Army. Well, he didn't pass the physical. The Army didn't want to touch him as he possibly had cancer. Needless to say we were all stunned. I have been just going through the motions and doing my best to get through the days. He had surgery last Wednesday. (he had an undecended testicle (I never knew about it! the pediatrician never mentioned it) and that greatly increases the risk of testicular cancer) I had taken him to the same urologist that did my Dad's prostate surgery. The dr. removed the undecended one and removed the surrounding tissue, just incase it was cancerous. We found out before he was released from the hospital that it was indeed cancerous. I was speechless. The good news is the dr. is of the opinion that he doesn't need any further treatment. He will get blood work for the next 6 months and then if all looks good he will be released from care.

My promotion finally went through. The mayor held up all 18 promotions for

3 weeks because he was mad that he hadn't been invited before everyone else. The sorry you-know-what didn't even show up! typical. I've been a Lieutenant for a month and a half and been captain for most of that time! My captain has been off either sick or on vacation. I changed shifts, and stations. I know work the day before DH (instead of the day after) and I work in the worst part of the city. We average 18 runs a day. At least one of them a structure fire, several shootings and a number of stabbings. Yes that's every shift. I work 24 hrs then come home, take care of the animals and go to bed until early afternoon. I lose nearly an entire day! I am starting to get adjusted to the schedule, it's not as bad as it had been.

My brother came to visit with my niece. I appreciate the suggestions for an album for her. I did the 8x8 album. I put the paper on the pages before they arrived then while we were camping I reviewed the digital pictures everyone took and put most of the embellishments on the pages (with a sticky note as to which photo/photos I wanted to print off for that page). Then after we got home I had them printed and put down so just before they left I gave it to her. She loved it, though I think my brother liked it better! LOL

Anyway, I should be back to stay a while. I uploaded some of the promotional pictures in my webshot account if anyone is intersted.

was just telling Rick this morning that I hadn't heard from you and that Nick should have had his surgery this week. Glad to hear that it went well and that you can now all breathe a little more easily. I'll continue to keep him in my prayers until he gets the all clear. Thank goodness he wanted to join and got that physical!

As for the promotion yahoo!!!! I am so glad for you. You know what I think of Mayor Submarine, LOL! I so wish that Rick and I could have been there for you!

We were shocked too Jacqui! I feel like this is same song second verse, we waited with our breath held for several years for DS #2 to be given the all clear. At least this is just 6 months. Yes the schedule is murder but I am getting used to it. I actually like working at this station, better to be busy than idle, makes the shift go much faster!

You look very happy! :-) I hope your son does well with his tests, and I am relieved they found out early enough to take care of the problem! He is a lucky man! Will he still want to join the service after all of this? Glad to see ya back! Linda

It's sure nice to have you back Kenda! Congratulations on the promotion albiet to the worst neighborhood in the city. It's time to really show them what you're made of. You can take it. 8-}

I'm glad to hear that everything is working out for ds. What an ordeal. What about the Army? Is it still in his future?

Thank you Cathy! Today was DS's first test and it came back good. The Dr. doesn't seem to be worried so neither am I.

He does still want to join the military. In fact he's made several phone calls already! LOL The boy is determined! Thankfully he still has 1 year left of high school. All this did was delay his boot camp by a year. Who knows, I keep telling him, this may work out better than the orginal plan. (I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway)

I'm not sure he will still go in the Army. He has decided that he's torn, AGAIN, between the Army and the Marines. LOL He really wants to go Marine. He is again weighing his options and is leaning more toward the Marines. He's still trying to decide. Once he has made it past the 6 month mark he will make his decision. I know that by the first of the year he will have the papers signed and have a date for boot camp right after graduation! (He turns 18 a few days before Christmas so my signature won't be needed again.)
