Hello to Everyone

Jan 25, 2009 15 Replies

Hi I've been lurking around here for a couple of weeks and thought I'd say hello and introduce myself before I jumped in and posted (though I have replied a couple times).

I've been quilting for about 30 years now... however that wasn't non-stop :)... so while that sounds like a long time, I still have lots to learn. I love quilts and quilting, and after reading this group for a while I also have realized that I also love "people who quilt" and would like to join in here.

So hello to everyone!

Welcome Debbie,

Someone else will be along to ask all those necessary questions about you - all nice though :>}

Welcome Debbie. It's good to have you here round the cyber frame. What sort of quilting do you like to do? . In message , ***Debbie*** writes

Welcome Debbie! It's always great to have a new member, so pull up a chair and plan to stay awhile. :-) So do you have any projects you're working on at the moment? Any QI's?

Hi Thank you all for the welcomes. I feel the most comfortable with machine piecing and and hand quilting. I like applique every once in a while. I recently tried paper piecing and at first it felt backwards and awkward to me. After I got the hang of it though I kind of liked it and when I recover completely from the last time, I might try it again. :) I am between quilts right now, with two in mind but trying to decide which one to start first. As far as QIs, I have one cat and two little dogs. The chief inspector is my cat, however she's really bad about claiming batting and fabric pieces as her own.

Glad you came out of lurking, Debbie. Welcome to the Land of RCTQ. We have fun here, no moderator, no rules. The only thing you really need to know is that it is very wise to have your chocolate vetted. Just send a pound or two to the Office of the Official Chocolate Taster of RCTQ, which is in my Palace here in Virginia. I will test and taste and report back via email. You don't have to thank me ... this is my unselfish volunteer duty in RCTQ. A tough job, but someone's gotta do it. :)

Pat, Official Chocolate Taster of RCTQ PS: We ALL always have lots to learn ... that is what makes quilting such a joy!

There are a lot of us Deb( )s on this groupm. We even made a Deb quilt once. I am near Boise and born 1954. How about you?

I was born in the same year. Apparently that was a "Debbie" Reynolds era. What did the Deb quilt look like? In light of how many Debs there are, do you think the ***Debbie*** clarifies which Debbie I am or do you think I need to do something else? I am located in central Louisiana.

Thank you all for the welcomes. I really like this group and enjoy reading all the posts and how nice everyone is to each other.

Thank you for the welcome. I knew this was a good place! Where else can you find such selfless chocolate testers?

I think the asterisks are fine, as an identifier. We could think of you as 'star Debbie'!! . In message , ***Debbie*** writes

Welcome, Debbie!! Where in central La? I'm in West Monroe.

Thank you for the welcome. I live about 30 miles south of Natchitoches. Beautiful sun, but chilly here today!

Beautiful sun here, too but also very chilly!! Don't really want summer but would like it to be a bit warmer.
