Hello everyone!

I've been a tad out of touch. Life has just gotten busy with school and all. I do pop in once in a while to read about all the wonderful projects you've been working on and to catch up on news.

The summer flew by, however I did manage to contribute to a couple of hug projects, although not as much as I would have liked. I did finish a couple of the projects that I listed on the "get it done challenge 2005". I will be owing lots of fat quarters, but hey, it's for a fun cause.

This quilt is called "Sheltering Tree" it is my first finished hand appliqué project. I'm now hooked on HA and the use of silk thread.

This quilt is called Swirls. It is twin sized for DD (8yrs old). The colours (which she picked herself) are not as accurate on the photo as I would have liked.

Thank you for looking at my works and for your comments. As always, this is a great bunch of people and I will make an effort to post more often.

I've recently become hooked on hand applique, too. Silk thread is so great! I'm using a beige color thread on everything, and I love the way it seems to blend with anything.

I love your work! Very nice. I've been thinking about a HA panel for my mom for some time, but haven't jumped yet. Your enthusiasm reminds to i should really jump.

Thanks for sharing.

Welcome back, Carole! I really like Sheltering Tree; I admire anyone who successfully does hand appliqué. Swirls is really pretty, too -- I'm sure your DD loves it. :)

Silk thread is nice! I now have 4 spools, 3 neutral (light medium and dark) and one of which is black. I don't plan on buying more as they seem to work with the colours I use.

Thank you Emilia. I enjoy HA. It's a great TV project (not that I watch TV but DD does ask me to watch a DVD with her every now and again). Jump Emilia? I'm sure you'll love it.

Thank you Sandy. I am proud of Sheltering tree . DD (8yrs) does love her quilt (as well as all others I make. She always tries to get first dibs on them ;oD). She is a quilt lover and has started to sew blocks together on her GGM's sewing machine (I had it cleaned for her. It was my first machine).

Nice to see you Carole. The quilts are lovely. I don't do much appliqué, but, when I do, I like it and I love silk thread also. . In message , C & S writes

Those quilts are great!!! I just finished one somewhat like your Swirls......mine was 16-patches alternating with pinwheels, for a baby quilt. Thanks for sharing the photos, your work is beautiful. Welcome back, allyson

Oh it's so nice to see the work of another HA-er! I also use silk thread but have found I can get away with just a taupe colour. I set up 15 needles at a time and just go for it. So relaxing.

I love both the quilts but particularly admire the pattern for the Trees.

Avast! Those be bonny quilts! I especially like the caption under Swirls - Twin for DH - cuz my DH looks just like his brother, but yours looks like a quilt. ;-P

That is such a good idea, about the needles, Cheryl. Never would have thought of it >g< And, I have often thought it's a nuisance to have to stop to 'do' a needle (it always takes a moment longer because of having to tie the knot at the eye). Thanks for the tip. . In message , Cheryl writes
