Am I done yet?

Here is a photo of the hand-pieced quilt I've been working on. I need advice. Am I finished or do you think it would look better with a border? If so, suggestions would be appreciated. It's twin size, but could be larger and still be fine. I can't start quilting it for a while - thumb surgery next week - but I really need some input.

Lovely! I'd leave it like that and quilt it.

Same here...it's gorgeous -- and I don't see how a border would add anything else except size :) !!

I'd leave it as is, BJ! :) Well, of course I don't mean not to quilt it.... ;)

I'll depart from the others and offer a possibility -- add a cream-colored border about one and a half to two times the width of the red border, then bind it in the red.

It will look gorgeous as is, though.

No border needed. Like everyone else, I really like it the way it is. I love the way the red sashing co-ordinated the scrappy strips. Lovely. . In message , BJ writes

I don't think you need a border; the red sashing around the outside acts as a nice border. If you do want one, I think it should be dark, probably black or dark blue. You don't want to detract from the main part of the quilt.

Howdy!

Oh, yeah, you're done w/ this quilt top. The striking red says, "I'm done!" When you finish Finishing it I hope you'll use that same red for the binding.

Good luck w/ the thumb surgery. Dang! Thumbs are so important: that's how Pat gets from Va. to Butterfly's house in Az, via her thumb.

Lovely quilt top, BJ.

You mean the red border around it is not a border? Anyway, I think it looks real nice as it is.

Looks great! And you could stop here if you wanted to. But IMO it would look even better with a narrow scrappy sawtooth border on a dark red background, and finish with a wider border of the dark red. Roberta in D
