Minkee Baby Quilt PIcs

We'll I FORCED myself to sit down last night and finish the last bit of quilting that was holding up the completion of this quilt (Isn't it amazing what we do - or don't do - to put off finishing a quilt!). Anyhow, something DONE for a change! Thought I'd share.

This quilt is actually rather touching. My late grand-mother-in-law asked me to make a quilt for her then newest great-grandchild. Not knowing what it takes to make a quilt and in effect putting this at the head of the list before four other already in line (and very late) baby quilts...she said you have all the way until the baby is born. Plenty of time! This was November and baby came in January!!!!!! Egads! You'll note when it actually got done!!! And not even delivered until July!!!! Simply pieced minkee dot fabric pieced and pillow turned and quilted. Sadly, my GMIL never saw (or felt) it completed before she passed. I made a mini version and put it in her casket. This wasn't truly a "commission" piece as I never wanted payment. I did it for the love of that grand woman and as a cousin of the baby!

Melissa,

At least you are getting things done. Remember to take time to breathe and take care of YOU!!

Larisa, overindulging in taking care of me and *not* getting any projects taken care of .....we need to trade places for a little while

Melissa,

I think your GMIL would be very happy with the finished quilt. I hope it gets lotsa' use and that even when it becomes threadbare they will save those labels as a remembrance of Great Grandma Ruth and a project of love made by Cousin Melissa.

It is a beautiful quilt and I am sure your GMIL would be proud. I love the embroidery on the labels. When I finish a quilt that is the part I look forward to.
