I give up. that is my bank that gave us the preApproval for our mortgage which now no more. Now what do I do? (retorical). the federal government just shut it down for restructuring.

Oh Kate! That is so disappointing. I guess all you can do is find another bank. Dont give up!! Anything worth working hard to get will be well worth it in the end. ((hugs)) I hope you find another source for a mortgage. Good luck!

Like Linda said go to another bank and don't give up. When I bought my first house 5 banks turned me down... it seemed sad and aggravating at the time, but now it's ancient history.

Yeah - that's just one of life's "speedbumps". Don't worry about it - we were also turned down the first time we applied for a morgage bond - the reason - we did not have enough accounts for them to check our abillity to meet the payments! How strange is that? We did not have a lot of accounts on purpose!! Anyway - the next bank approved us straight away and we've been with them ever since.

Take your pre-approval letter to another bank. They might be more willing to work with you if they know that another bank had already approved you.

I spoke to Karen, our banker at Indymac, and she has sent us another preApproval Letter indicating that the new owners accept our application. she said that I kept updating her with our financial status and it made it easier for her to re-sell our application.
