OT: LCD PC Screens

Hi Everyone

I got an early b'day present today...a LCD Flat screen for my PC. I was wondering who prefers the older type screens to these? I like the space saving part, but I don't know if I'm that impressed. It's definitely not worth the price IMHO. Guess I'll get use to it...

Early Happy Birthday! :-)

I recently got a flat screen at work. Do like the space savings part, but it is an adjustment for those of us who work with photos & graphics programs. The colors seem off (Tigger's my screen saver at work & while he looked normal on the old monitor, his coloring is kinda funny on the flat screen). I need to play with the settings to closer match "what you see is what you get" when printing. The pics will be nice & bright on screen, then print too dark. Don't be afraid to play with the settings, Judy, till you get them to where you're more comfortable with them.

Yep, you've hit the nail on the head Alicia. Also some small details seem to get lost (small patterns, etc). I'm starting to get use to it today, tho. :) I've also found that if I tilt the screen slightly upwards as opposed to straight,, the quality improves :)

for graphics work I'll only ever use a regular screen. Also it totally depends on the flat screen. The aspect ratio has to bee 600:1 or higher or you get odd shading... and those monitors are expensive... the apple mac flatscreens are very nice tho... very high ratio and very accurate colors.... but ALOT for a flatscreen...

My Dad has one of those. He seems to be happy as a clam with it since he spends lots of time at his computer. (In his defense, he's been working with computers long before I was born. LOL) I do have a flat screen monitor, but it's not the skinny space saving ones.
