Paperbag album problems?

OK I bought one off of ebay a while back for a steal. The work is really nice. I like having something in my hand if I'm going to try a new project. I have a baby shower to go to for someone I'm not very close to so a full scrapbook album isn't appropriate. I thought perfect time to make a paperbag album kind of in the line of April's bag books. Just big enough to hold a few pictures to brag about. Anyhow I got the paper all chosen and cut up to decorate one. Then I went to get my lunch sacks. My lunch sacks are 2 inches smaller than the one made. I thought well I could cut all my paper down to fit no problem there except I really like the size of the 7 inch paper sacks verses the 5 inch sacks I have. I went out shopping today thinking I'll just buy bigger sacks. I couldn't find any anywhere. I looked at the grocery store, Michaels, drugstore, Walmart and I even looked behind the check out stands thinking maybe they were store sacks. Nothing. Help!

Anyone know where to buy different sized paper sacks? Of course the baby shower is this weekend, so it won't help me now to look online, but I want to get some so I'll have them now.

here's the instructions for how I make mine. It's really easy and you just use one big grocery bag. Well, I use 2 to make the book have double the pages.

Wow Shannon thank you for the tip. I'm going to go make one right now and see what size it comes out to. I could get some of the big paper from the school tomorrow and fold it the same way and get the size I want. Thank you thank you thank you.

No problem. I think they are bigger than the lunch size. That's why I like them. Let me know how it goes.

I used the small albums they have at walmart. There are alot of pages in it but I took the front and back and the pages off to start. I covered the front and back chipboards. Then started page by page covering front and back of the pages with pink paper. Punched the holes. I then placed the front cover on then each page behind it. As I get more pages done I will send them to each person so they can take off the back cover and add the pages I sent. I will do this up to one year old and after that I just send a picture or so every now and then.

the albums are $4 approx. at walmarts scrapbooking section. I got the white one, there are other colors I think. They are called paperbilities memory books. they have 35 (6" x 8") pages in it. Very easy to take apart too. The books I have up are about 7 pages front and back for just the first 6 weeks of baby's life. That leaves 28 more pages approx for 10 1/2 more months of pictures.

I bought the big paperbilities book to do my baby album. I am still waiting on papers and baby stuff to come so I can get started.

The only place I have found the larger size lunch bags is at K-Mart. Sandy

I just thought of something Lynne. Our Wal Mart here has paper bags you can put your frozen foods in. They're free (always good!) and they have them here at the end of one of the frozen food sections (with the doors). I don't have any of the bags with me, but I know they're bigger than the regular lunch sacks. They may be bigger than 7", but I can't remember. Wish I had one here so I could measure it for you.

KMart is on my list I'll have to swing by the bag aisle and see if they have what I'm looking for. Thanks for the tip.

HA! Deb this was something I was looking for yesterday, but my local stores didn't have any. The Walmart I'm going to today is supposed to be a "Super Walmart" so I'll see if they have a frozen food section. I was thinking I wouldn't want to take bags on a regular basis, but just a couple to meet my deadline until I could find a place to buy some. You know what I mean.

Paper sack Pilgrimage....

I found bigger ones at KMart! Not as big as I was looking for, but over an inch bigger than the ones I have and I'll take'em. Tried to find bags at Walmart no luck in the freezer section and found the albums April was talking about, but they were sold out. I'm surely going to keep looking for the albums as I like the look of them and they'd be perfect.

Thanks everyone for you help and suggestions... now on to sew and decorate my bags.

Thanks for the link. Are paper bags acid free?

The bags are not acid free. They make great little albums to carry around and thumb through again and again not worry about them having to be around for your ancestors. I told my recipient to put her twin pixs in the album.
