Scrapbook Newbie

Hello Group, My name is Trenna, I'm from Oklahoma City, I'm also new to scrapbooking. I hear so much about this fun hobby and can not wait to get started. However, I need loads of help with getting started and oraganized. I have a few supplies but know that I will need more. I really love punches, and stencils, so if anyone has ideas on how to use them into my new hobby, do let me know. Also, if there are any OKC scrappers, I'm looking for a group.

Thanks Ms. T

Hi Trenna,

Check out the RCS website.

There is a lot of fun stuff there to get you started. Also feel free to ask questions any time. You'll get an answer or you'll get help finding an answer, sometimes you'll get a head scratch and an "I don't know", but that doesn't happen very often. :)

HIYA from Shamrock tx... I am about 150 miles from you. I go to OKC ever now and then. Dave our male scrapper in the group lives in Midwest City nearer to you. You'll probably meet him first. He is unique and wonderful, really worth meeting.

Hi Trenna! Thrilled that you're discovering the wonderment of scrapbooking! I love punches too. And they are easy to incorporate into your layouts. Sometimes I'll use them by scattering them on the page (like when my son lost his first tooth) or I might use larger ones on borders or journalling boxes or titles. Your only limit is your imagination.

Enjoy!

Welcome to RCS Trenna! You'll find scrapbooking is very addictive, fun, and fulfilling. (And pounding eyelets can be very good stress relief! LOL) Dave, our male scrapper here, is near you. If you get a chance to meet him, you won't be sorry. He's such a great guy and a very talented scrapper. There's all kinds of great information on the RCS website. The best advice I can give about getting started is to jump right in and do a layout or two. That's what I love about scrapping, there's no right or wrong way. :-) Have fun with your new hobby! We love to see each other's work, so if you can, please share with us.

Hi Trenna, glad to meet you. I am currently living in the Little Rock area as are Kenda and Deb. We're lucky enough to have Dave our scrappy friend from OKC visit from time to time so maybe someday you can catch a ride with him and we can get to meet you! I'm the webpage keeper-upper for the group so if you have any questions just holler. If you go to the website and click on links, you'll see one for abbreviations. That might help with some of the mysterious abreviations that ppl will use here. Also, if you are curious about any one of us, go to Meet US.

Have you done any pages yet or are you in the "collecting" stage. Some of us are avid and continuous collectors of paper...(Dave is our biggest paper collector by far) and some of us do paper plus all sorts of scrapbooking supplies (if you can imagine that it might someday have a use in even one scrapbook page, you just have to buy it now cause it might never be available again and then what you have to do without it???!!!) Does that sound compulsive? Well it is, we are and please do let us know when we have enabled you enough for you to become a self proclaimed FLASS! (it's in the abbreviations, LOL!)

Anyhow, welcome and we look forward to hearing more from you!

Hi and welcome and BOY are you in luck!!! OUR Dave is right there!! He is the bestest! Lucky you! By the way guys...Dave was worried about me and called me last night!! We talked for over an hour!! OMGoodness!! I am doing better folks but cannot get to the keyboard everyday. I have to sit with my legs dangling to be online and this little device is so slow I end up being online for HOURS causing swelling in my foot and knee. :-(

Hi Trenna, I'm Christina from Tulsa area :) Nice to meet you neighbor! I'm fairly new to scrapbooking. I'd say about 2-3 years, but I have been doing it in-between children. I have 3 (a 3 year old and 1 year old twins!) Not much time for scrapping!

I like to collect paper! :) I have a whole stash of paper that I don't know that I'll ever use. But it's nice to know I've got them if I ever need them I suppose.

Look forward to chatting. Christina

OOooo....potty training. (some times that can be a bad word! LOL) We have battled for months (or is that a year???) with DS who turned 4 in April. I haven't had to change anything dirty in over a week!! YEA!! (Don't ask me what made the difference, because I'm still trying to figure it out myself. LOL) I also went round and round with DD...who is now 7...especially after DS came along. She was 2 1/2 when DS was born, and almost 3 before she was fully potty trained. I finally figured out with her, she was just too busy playing to go to the bathroom. She knew what to do, and when to do it, just didn't want to, especially since the pull-up soaked things up. One morning, DH put the last pull-up on her and told me he would bring back more later. I said, "Nope. This is it. She's got 3 pairs of brand new underwear and she's going to wear them." DH thought I was nuts because I was going to be washing all day, but within a week, DD was fully potty trained. Just keep at it Christina, and she'll get there!
