Hi all,
I have told a few other lists and groups I'm on about this, but I think people here would be the most excited about it.
My great-aunt (I think she might be a grand-aunt now - she's my mother's aunt. Don't know what you would call her in family lingo!) passed away on Saturday night while in hospice care. She had given my mother power of attorney as we are the only family here. The manager of the seniors home she was at couldn't hold her apartment for her anymore, so we went over there to collect her things on Saturday morning. We weren't expecting her to pass away on Saturday night. :-( Things were horrible last weekend but they are a lot better now.
Anyhow, I found a big metal box of photos and a large portrait of my great-grandmother. Mom and I were so ecstatic - that amidst sadness we had uncovered this special box of joy. There were pictures of me with my great-grandmother, family group shots, old portraits...photos of my great-grandmother and mother as young women. Photos of my great-grandfather. I thought Mom was going to fall over when she found a picture of her grandfather and Uncle Johnny sitting on a couch.
We're going to have some of the photos reproduced so that everyone can have a copy. Isn't it a great age we live in that we can do all this? :-) It makes me really happy to know that.
In other news, I spent last weekend (which was a long weekend) with my parents as there were so many arrangements to be made. I took my scrapping stuff with me and matted some photos. Hopefully I'll be able to have a page done tonight. I'm just stuck on the lettering right now.
TTYL, Christine
