Re: What is the absolute coolest thing....

We had some in the store, but I can't remember who made them. I'll have to check and see if there are any left when I go to work on Tuesday.

This project made me think of what you were describing. Is it any where close? I've been wanting to make one every since I saw the show. They said to use chipboard too and I didn't know what it was or what to get it. Also book binding glue.

This may sound so crazy but....seredipity squares! I had never heard of them until the RCS Rainbow Swap. Katrina gave several examples of homemade emebellishments in the swap details, serendipity squares being one of them. I had to go searching to find out what "serendipity squares" were and made some. They're so easy! What I like is being able to make a big 'ol mess on my paper and it still looks cool. Here's a link with a how-to

There's also serendipity squares using stamps and ink pads. Instead of layering scraps of paper, you layer ink colors directly to your cardstock. Once you have your plain cardstock inked up how you want it, let it dry. Then you can emboss over that. I can't find the link for the stamped seredipity squares, but let your imagination run with it. LOL I'm sure serendipity squares have been around for a while, but I've just found them. :-)

The KOOLEST thing I have seen and am inspired by it is Alicia's didigtal scrapbooking. And the fact that it takes jusrt as much time and effort to do as the HAND stuff we all here LOVE!!

They are very cool to make. I think it will be a great project for DD. She can make a mess and get by with it! LOL

They are fun, Deb! I have done hearts and some other paperpiecing with them, too. Instead of cutting your paper into squares, cut them into patterns. So many things to have fun with!

It looks like chipboard, but what we had were boxes with accordian albums in them. And darn if I forgot to look for them yesterday while I was at work!
