OK, I got the scrapbox a few days ago. I've got to tell you that it was so heavy that it cost Susan more than $17.00 to post it. However, I have to agree with her that there is little in there that the savy and up-to-date scrappers in this group would want to see or take out of the box. So.. I'm inclined to agree with those that say that the scrapbox has seen better days and that it's time has come to pass. In my opinion, it made sense to send it around when there were so few LSS and scrapbook supplies out there but now, it makes no sense at all to send something filled with old tired stuff so that people can spend a fortune mailing it around. I am being quite honest in telling you that you will be far better to spend the shipping money at your LSS, Michaels or Hobby Lobby. It is my belief that the contents of the box should be donated. I would appreciate your comments and suggestions.

I agree M-C. I joined the scrapbox that last round and it cost me $15 to send it on. I was a little past the half way point on the list and there wasn't much to pick from. I kind of felt obligated to find something since it was going to cost me money to send it on. I say donate the box of goodies to some young scrappers and let them have a ball. I think the NSSSF program could fill the void easily of the scrapbox.
My 2 cents, Lynne
That's too bad. It sounded like a great way to get products that are unavailable due to regional differences. Oh well. Thanks for looking into it.

I completely agree with MC. I think it's time to retire the scrapbox. The NSSSF program can easily fill in the gaps that the scrapbox was. There was talk about starting an embellishment box again, and that still might be a good idea.
Donating the contents is an awesome idea. Here's an idea I had. What about a hospital? We all thought it was so neat that Chrissy got to go to the hospital and make a memorial layout of Dylan. I would be glad to contact the local hospitals and see if they do anything like that. I also have a couple contacts at St. Jude's hospital in Memphis. I could check there, too to see if these items would be useful.
Just my .02 worth.
A hospital facility is a good idea. What about the long-term care center where Jessie is staying? I don't know if it is a hospital or a nursing facility.

I've only been with the group since last October and have never participated in the scrapbox. But, the shipping sounds so high, I'm glad I didn't. Paper and cardstock seems to be the bulkiest items to even purchase online because of weight and size. Deb's idea of an embellishment box sounds like a neat one. If the size were limited, even to a certain size priority box everyone would know the cost up front. I think it would be neat to trade out buttons, brads, eyelets, handmade tags, borders and other embellishments. My two cents worth. Sandy
Gosh, when I inquired about the scrapbox I was talking the embellishment box. I guess they are different things. That's what I've been waiting to participate in, the embellishment box. Oh, it all comes back to me now. :)

Just remember that it will be cheaper to give it away locally than to ship it off again somewhere else. I'd rather not spend $18 shipping it out again.

I agree with donating the box too. The Childrens Home /school where I work have a Scrapbook club.Do you have anything like that near you? Lin
I totally agree with you MC- I participated in one round, spent 14.00 mailing it off and found very little that I could use...this was way back in the dark ages, but things have a way of getting dog eared and tired...donate away! Arleen
Good point! Local sounds good. :-)

I totally agree... most children's hospitals need this type of stuff badly. I'm sure there is something in little rock that could benefit.
I would love to participate in an embellishment box too! Sounds good - and cheaper.
