Thanks-re baby memorial album

Hello. I just want to thank everyone for the ideas for the baby memorial album. You guys sure sound like a great group. I'm just a beginner (well, I've done scrapbooks my whole life, but not like the ones done now), so I will probably be coming back for advice. I made one for my sister-in-law for Christmas of my two nephews, and she made it to the second page and was crying. I guess that's a good sign. She shows everyone. I am working on one for my two year old lab now. I figure this would be great for learning, and no one but me would have to see it.

One question. I am confused about all the machines out there. The zyron etc. What exactly do they all do? Is it worth spending $$ on these things?

Thanks again.

Diane

The machines really depend on your scrapping style. The sizzix and other die cutters may be useful to you, but if you do not use die cuts on your layouts they wouldn't be. There have been many times I have purchased dies for my sizzix and still haven't used them. The alphabet dies are something I use a lot of along with some other dies. I have two xyrons, one is a five inch and the other the 2.5 inch. I use them a lot. They make stickers out of die cuts, ribbon (I do that a lot) they seem to be the best adhesive for vellum for me. I couldn't live without my paper trimmer, scanner, computer etc. Others on the group couldn't live without a coluzzle, sizzix, or other shape type cutters. I feel I can for the most part. I love my heat gun but I don't use it all of the time. Whatever you do, do not buy the cheapo provocraft sewing machine. It sucks in all reviews. I hated mine and sold it to a kid at a garage sale. This is just my take on it. Watch any shows on scrapbooking, read the magazines, etc to get a feel for what you want to do and how creative you want to get with this hobby. This is just my take on it. I am sure others have their own personal experience too. Hope this helps! Jacqui
