Calendar Dedication question

Hi I'm new to this newsgroup and thought you all might have an idea of placement, etc. I have a question on a family calendar I'm creating.

The calendar is a horizontal, 2-page spread, with family collage on the top and the monthly calendar on bottom, with a cover sheet.

I am having trouble with a dedication page -- I'm not sure whether to put it up front after the cover/before the January page or at the end of the calendar. Normally one would think up front, but it is a somewhat somber note, dedicated to the memory of deceased family members. Would it be inappropriate to add it as a separate page at the end of the calendar?

Thanks.... as for my background in scrapbook... I framed a scrapbook page using Anna Griffin stock and decorative photo borders and gave it as a gift. The theme was "Cousins make the best friends". It was of my son and his cousins when they were young. It was quite lovely -- but I was told part of the frame had broken since they received it so I have never seen it displayed! :\

Welcome to RCS! We get kinda excited when newcomers arrive. :-) Feel free to ask any questions you want. Either way to place your dedication would be good. Most of the time, a dedication page is at the beginning, though. You could simply state that the calendar is dedicated to the loved ones your family has lost and how much they are missed. HTH!

Welcome to RCS, you'll never find a more helpful group of women and MEN here.

Dedications (like those found in a book) are usually found in the front so I'd put it separately from January. Although somber, it can also be upbeat to remember the fun things you and your family did with each member as journalling throughout the calendar as "anedotes"

Also, don't forget to post it so we can see it and critique it and maybe "scrap-lift" some wonderful ideas for our own dedication pages.

Welcome to the group. You will find lots of fun, friendly, helpful people here. I think I would put it at the beginning of the calendar before the January page.

Welcome to the group!

We love to help out folks here and offer our advice....at least that's been my observation. :)

What a great gift, a personal calander. I think the dedication would work fine at the beginning. That's my 2 cents.

Thanks so much, everyone, for such a super welcome!

I ended up putting the grandparents dedication at the front. It looks fine now! I'm sure my hesitation was really with the initial wording. It was too contrived, so I'm glad I was able to re-word it and it now sounds more natural! This page is at the bottom part of the calendar, and for the top of the calendar I chose to put together a straightforward grid montage of all the grandchildren in the family.

A thought to share: I really like my GBC ComBind C50 binding machine that I had gotten for the calendar project. It would be great to coil bind scrapbooks... my sister has made some mini albums as gifts and it is easy to cut the plastic coils.

As soon as I can add more space to my site, I'll post the "cousins make best friends" scrapbook page I made.
