Use Up Our Stash Challenge

I will post supplies, tools, or books to use every Monday but we don't have to use all of them. We can also combine more than one supply on a layout if. This list will be cumulative. Once the product is on the list it will stay on the list. Since I really don't have time every week to get a layout completed this was my way of making this challenge low stress. The point is to try to use what we've spent good money on rather than have it gather dust!

We will begin posting whenever you've got a layout done and want to post it. There will be no deadline for when you can post because I want this to be low-stress.

To make this interesting I have decided on a points system. To participate in this challenge you definitely do not have to keep up with your points. The only reason I came up with the points is to congratulate the person who uses the most of their stash. I will mail the winner 30 sheets of Bazzill cardstock at the end of this challenge. I am making the end of this challenge Dec. 31st. That gives us a couple of months to use up our stuff! If we still wish to continue we can start the points over and I will find something else to donate to the next winner.

Points structure:

1) For every page (8 1/2x11 or 12x12) you do that contains a stash item that is on the list give your. (note: I mentioned for every page not every layout. If you do a two page layout and both pages have stash items then you will get 2 points)

2) For every card you do for the September Card Challenge (that M-C posted) that you use items from the stash list you will get one point.

3) For every 3 cards you do (not for the September Card Challenge) that includes a item from the list you will get one point.

4) For every two pages you do (8x8 or 6x6) you will get one point.

5) Every once in a while I will post bonus points for the week. This is just to make this even more fun. : )

You are responsible for keeping up with your own points. It might be fun if everyone had it to our signature line on the newsgroup.

Please feel free to give me any feedback or suggest other guidelines that will make this a low-stress challenge that people will enjoy joining.

So here's what I propose for the first week's items from our stash:

  1. Colored eyelets (non metallic)
  2. Fibers
  3. Pattern Paper
  4. Letter Beads

Please post your projects to the newsgroup if you can. We all would like to see everyone's ideas for using up our own stash.

This will be fun. Remember you must you stuff you already have in your stash! I'm just glad that I have been collecting stuff for my Christmas cards for months! No going out and buying for this one!

I just want to make sure that you understand what Tammy means by post your projects to the newsgroup. She DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU SHOUD ACTUALLY POST YOUR IMAGES HERE on the newsgroup as we're not allowed to do post images here. She means please let us know in the newgroup when you post your challenge to your webshots/picture trail/yahoo picture or whatever account!

Thanks for the clarification M-C! I did mean post a link of your layouts/cards to the newsgroup. Definitely not the images.

I know I probably left off a few things so please ask questions if you have any!!

LOL! MC I have been collecting for my Christams card also. I didn't even think about them when I was setting this challenge up.

So, say next week you post the new list and I do a page containing an item from this week's list, does that count as a point?

Jennifer

Yes! It still counts as a point. The next list will have all this weeks items and will have new items as well. The list will just get longer. From now until December if you use pattern paper from your stash then it will count as a point.

Is that cool with everyone?

PS - Can you tell I have a ton of pattern paper I want to use up??

LOL! Almost EVERY lo I do has some kind of patterned paper! I think this is going to be fun!

Hey I used my stash today. Not sure if it counts, but Tammy's encouragment made me think ahead. My color printer had run out of ink and I thought I'll just go buy some more when I get a chance so I can finish my recipe swaps. Welllll, I thought why don't I check the cabinet before I go shopping and low and behold was a box of black and a box of color cartridges for me to use. Yeah! I'm finishing the printing as we speak.

Way to go Lynne! That is exactly what I am hoping to do. Instead of going to buy something make something work that I already have. Most of the time I just need a push to use my imagination!

I've started using my stash already... only not any of the things on your list! Instead of hoarding my precious and irreplacable metallic christmas stickers and my collection of die cuts I've been using them on cards for the soldiers - I can always get more next year!

This sounds like fun! I plan on doing some scrapping/card making tonight and make up for not feeling good yesterday and most of today. Thanks Tammy for coming up with this challenge.

I have kind of a silly question? Our "stashes" consist of everything we already have, right? Not necessarliy just the old stuff? Since I've only been scrapping for about 1 1/2 years, not too much of my things are "old" with the exception of some clearance stickers and maybe some paper. I do have a big assortment of scraps to use up..... Our challenge is to USE UP and NOT buy for the challenge, correct?

That was how I read it Linda! Like you I have only been scrapping a short while (Dec 2004) but was card-making since early 2003. My understanding is that we use what we have already....not go out and buy new stuff to participate. I guess someone will chime in if I have it wrong...LOL Anyhow, I am not really collecting points just using what I have lying around and trying to avoid breaking into new sheets if possible.

Take care, Marilyn

You both are correct! This challenge is for using up what you already have. I doesn't have to be old but you need to have purchased it before the stash challenge started.

HTH!

Well, I feel like a dork now! I should read all messages before I say a thing!(LOL)

This is a challenge I just might be able to handle!:>) What a great idea!

Now, I'm going to mark the reat of the posts as read, because there are over

1000 of them, & I'll never get scrapping if I don't!:>)
