When is TOO MUCH not enough?!!

(First of all, sorry sorta long!)

Well for past couple of weeks I have been busy, busy, busy. In between working on weekends, a last minute 4th of July show we did, TRYING to keep the grass mowed (aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!)) with all the rain we have been getting the inbetween nice STICKY, HOT, MUGGY Houston, Florida like days, err HOURS!) the stuff is growing like weeds!! All of us around here are saying we have to keep the windows shut not to keep out the heat and rain, but to drown out the sound of the grass growing LOL!

Anyhow I finally broke down and listened to April, ok took her advice. (I know, I know A man that listened to a woman LOL!) Anyhow my sorta unused front bedroom/storage area needed a makeover. Plus all of the acquired, OH SORRY!! NEEDED hobby supplies were slowly overtaking their space in the living room and I was sorta getting tired of trying to keep it corralled let alone organized. Well I had a leak which I needed to find in the ceiling, surely not!!! Had a old wall that needed repaired after shower leak a few years ago (I know procrastinator!) and had old yucky 20 year old carpet that needed dire help!

So I went into that room and tore out carpet, tore out the large double

72 x 24 closet, torn out the old damaged wall and moved out, sorted and organized the misc junk that was in there. Some of it even found my new friend :) the trash dumpster!! I just wonder what ever happened to my ice cream maker that is no longer to be had? (hummpprrpph as if I really need that stuff anyhow!)

So I put in new drywall, which will SOMEDAY be finished, right now covered by desk and cabinets, put down that new acyrlic wood planking floor (looks like, feels like and installs like wood flooring, but chepaer and easier! (heck ya'll in here could do it too if you can MEASURE, cut STRAIGHT lines and around objects LOL!) Built a new 48 x 30 closet, moved ALL of my hobby stuff from THREE rooms, yes all of it that was not only in living room, but back bedrom and f course this extra room.

Geesh!!! I could not believe I had so much. Of course I knew about my beloved paper but, but, but all the rest AAAAHHHHH!!!!! Geesh I guess I am proud pappy of it all, but it took me more time to straighten, organize, put away, organize, hang, place, organize well you get the idea, of all of it tan it did to do the construction remodel work!!!

But alas, I am SSOOOO happy with the results. I have a bright window, a new floor sun lamp as well as those new daylight flourescent bulbs in the light recepticle which really makes the room BRIGHT like outside and MOSTEST of all, ALL of my great grand collection in one place!!!! I have enough to keep me busy and happy the rest of my life (hhhhhhhhaaaaaaa!!)

Now that it is all in one place, I have a few holes that can be filled with whatever else is needed. So I guess my question is, if you have, or is that THINK you have enough, or too much LOL! what do YOU do? No, selling any extra is not a option! It is mine, ALL MINE!!

So if you are interested the pix of my remodel, and the newly organized set up craft area is in webshots album "Me and My home" (the first one)

Thanks and I hope ya'll enjoy it as much as I am sure I will here as soon as get few other projects done. Plus I really do know aht all ya'll in here mean now about having all of it in one place or a place for all of=A0it!

Hi Dave,

Really enjoyed seeing the pictures of your remodel. Having it all in one spot is really nice. Now I have my rolling chair and I'll just stay seated and roll from one end of the room to the other as I get ribbon, cardstock, rubber stamps etc. for my projects. hahaha

I was wondering what are those paper dividers you have on the shelf that has tabs that stick up for labeling. Looks like something I need. I have to bend the edge of the folder over to read what's in my paper storage area.

Sounds like we could probably all take a page from your book, Dave!! I know I need to start going through my stuff and filtering it out. I'm sure I'll find a ton of stuff I just had to have, but have forgotten about..lol! Great pics..looks like you've got a great new room to get creative in!! Enjoy it!

Wow Dave your room is wonderful. I love the floor and all the paper racks. What kind of cabinet do you store your punches in? I bet it is really nice to have everything in one place. Have fun in your new craft space.

Cathy, the punch cabinet is a single cube with 2" drawers that I got bfrom Best scrapbook rack too. (it was cheap compared to the paper racks!) I have seen those cube storage things in various places, but not with drawers.

Linda, (blush!) when April was last here she sheeplessly kinda admitted that I might HAVE more paper than HER! I was kinda, OK being a man, PROUD of that statement LOL!!

Lynne, I just LOVE being able to roll my chair around without getting the wheels off the carpet mat thing and hung up! Plus I know the floor is oh going to be so much easier to clean. Just got to afford a wet swifter now!

Thanks all for the comments and now when the budget allows will have to go shopping (I hear ebay BEGGING me to come visit LOL!!!

Dave,

Your room looks great. We are slowly adding onto our our house once the addition is complete I will have my own craft space and I can't wait. I have been slowly (same speed as the addition) organizing my stuff so I can move in quick and I can't believe all the stuff I had. But then again if something is labeled clearance at the LSS its screams for me to buy it because you just never know when you might need that item. LOL!

Way to go Dave! I loved looking at all the pictures! You did an incredible job!

I really need to go through all my stuff. My favorite LSS down here is having a garage sale and my friend Janie and I have taken 3 tables. I'll have to watch her or she will come home with more than she sells... I of course, will be good...

Great job on your new scrappin room. Love the new floor. DH and I want to do that to the kitchen floor, but have been worried about the high traffic with the daycare as everyone who enters my house walks thru the kitchen. Sandy
