Not been around much lately

Things are so busy here at the daycare as summer has started and school is out. Just passed Level 3 of the Path to Quality Program for my child care. I now have 3 stars on my door. Also passed the Quality Visit from the State for my accreditation. Now onto the paperwork............ To top that off we've got several outside landscaping projects going on over the weekends. DH said on Monday he had to get back to work so he can rest. The weekend are killing him. I've been reading posts in the early morning and trying to keep up with everyone's LO's and projects, but not much time to post myself. Today we'll be busy making sea creatures and covering the windows of the playroom with blue celophane. We're turning it into an ocean for the month of June. Sandy

Do you have an in-home daycare or a daycare center?

You do sound busy Sandy! When you are done with the outside landscaping projects would you be willing to send DH this way? My DH isn't into that sort of thing....his idea of yard work is to mow the middle of the yard and call it done! lol Round up is his weedeater, looks horrible! I know you'll be glad to get the outside work done as well. Sounds like fun, turning the playroom into an ocean. You'll hae to post pics when you are done. Congrats on the Stars, I know you've worked hard to make your daycare high quality and you've certainly earned it!

Wow you have been busy! Congrats on the achievement. You know I never thought of the fact that you might be decorating the day care. The ocean theme sounds like a lot of fun. Can you share pictures once you're done? Do you keep a daycare scrapbook? Not that I'd expect you to share it if you did.

Wow you have a lot on your plate. Congrats on the 3 stars and passing the state visit. What are the ages of the kids in your daycare?

Your ocean playroom sounds really fun. Please share pictures when you are finished. I bet the kids will have a great time decorating.

Woo Hoo!! Now can you afford all the milk yet LOL!!

Geesh, since you are so busy and everyone wants to see pictures, sounds like the only way I will get to see the results is come and see in person LOL!

Congrats Sandy and get crackin' on all those lo's you were working on!!

In home. I'm state licensed for 12 with a plus 3 for school age children because of the size of my house and extra helpers. Sandy

Yep! I have a scrapbook. In fact the child care resource and referral agency I work with has asked me to do a workshop for other providers to show them how to put together a scrapbook that can promote their child cares. It also serves to show the inspectors some of the activities done at the child care as they can never see everything when they come to visit. I'll post pictures when done. Sandy

My license is for 0-12. Right now my youngest turns one next week and the other little one was one on the 5th of May. (For those who were at the Barn, he's the baby who came early while I was there.) Then I've got boys and girls between ages 16 mos to10. The oldest are a pair of boys (one is my DS) age 10 - keeping them busy all summer is something. Licensing says they have to stay in the fenced play yard and even at age 10 can not be outside without an adult present. DS does not have to follow the same rules after he turned 7, but it's hard as I can't let my DS go swimming or bike riding during the day because the other children get resentful. When they get resentful then issues start. When the other 10 year old is gone for a day to grandparents or his dad is off work DS gets to swim during naptime with his older sister. As soon as the older ones are gone toward the end of the day he's got his bike out. When we get it done, I'll post pictures. Sandy

Thanks, Dave. You'll have to combine the visit with dinner at the Black Buggy. Sandy

Sounds like the yard work could be a part time job for him! At least he's open to helping out with the play area and such.

I sure wish I'd had someone like you when my boys were in childcare age! You're center sounds like it's not just fun but very nuturing and educational.
