advice please silk/cotton fabric

My friend has made two bridesmaid outfits in 70/30 silk/cotton - colour lilac. She told me that there was a fold line on them but I said it would come out in the final press. It hasnt. I tried light steaming/heavy steaming. Dry pressing cloths and damp ones. Nothing worked. The rest of the garments iron up very well at the Silk/wool setting on the iron. The fabric seems to lose colour on steaming. I tried running a damp cloth down the line and then dry ironing but the colour faded. Anyone any advice?

Thanks Caroline

Some colours look different immediately upon pressing, but return to normal as soon as they cool. If this fabric has done this, there's nothing to concern you. If it shows a permanent change, press the whole set of garments ALL OVER! And pray... :(

As for the crease... Take a spare piece of the cloth to experiment with. Try a higher setting and full steam, from the inside. The cotton combined with the silk may mean you need a more rigorous regime than you would usually use on plain silk or a silk/poly mix. I have some glorious silk/cotton satin that needs a higher-than-silk iron setting and a good doze of steam!

What about dabbing it with a bit of vinegar water. Sometimes that will do the trick. Be sure to test it on a scrap first.
