Elna L-5

Jun 26, 2005 5 Replies

Just bought an Elna L-5 from an estate sale. Haven't tried it out yet but was wondering if anyone has this model and what they think of it and how it stitches. I also did not acquire the manual and was wondering if someone might be kind enough to copy and send me a copy of their manual if they have one. It would be so greatly appreciated. I have never sewn a 5 thread serger and feel rather lost on this one.

Would really appreciate any help on this.

I'm no help at all, but I'm really jealous! Congratulations!!!

(I know this is kind of rude....but did you get a great deal? Did you find it advertised, or just spot it when you showed up there?)

It was just by coincidence. It wasn't advertised, just on the table at the auction. It got it for $20. I sure hope there is someone in here who can help he with info on it. I have checked the elna page and googled it and came up with almost nothing that it was made in 1987.

Great find!!! Here's a place that sells the manual for $15.00 .

Best bet is probably to email Elna head office in Switzerland. Forget local dealerships/ national offices - they only want to know about "current" machines.

Be sure to find out what series of Schmetz needles it takes. You may otherwise have unexplained needles breakage.
