All these years

I thought I was winding the bobbin slowly, but the spool helicoptered off the pin and had to be hunted down anyway.

I've been known to put a straw on the pin to make it longer, but I didn't want to destroy the label on the spool. Perhaps I can hold it on a dowel, out in front where I can see it?

Duh, these spools and designed to spin off the end! I just held it by the wider flange and pointed it at the thread guide.

The thread untwisted a lot when I cut it; perhaps I was supposed to hold it by the other end.

How many *decades* has it been since long narrow spools replaced short wide ones?

And, grrr, I've been using the same technique to wind bobbins off balls of 100/6.
