ANTIQUE SEWING MACINE

We have an old sewing machine in our garage. My daughter picked it up some years ago with view to restoring it and probably using it as a house decoration. She dismantled it and started to work on the cabinetry, but lost interest in this and left it with us.

I have not studied it in detail - Just saw that is called a Goodrich - It is a treadle type and has dark wood cabinetry.

Not sure what to do with it - I am sure it would be of interest to someone. It would be a large item to ship - It is located near Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

I could take some photos if that would help, but it is in pieces.

If you have a local antique dealer, maybe they'll pay you a bit for it, and take it off your hands. It sounds like a lot of work is involved, and complete treadle machines (usable and decorative) are so common, they're seldom worth a massive amount of restoration time.

You could put the individual parts on eBay IF you want to spend the time to get these to someone who might do something with them. There's some completed eBay auctions for Goodrich treadle machine parts. Here's what, when exposed to a potential audience of millions, they sold for:

GOODRICH B Treadle Sewing Machine Parts Machine Head No bids at $19.99 Finally sold for $15.50 (2 bids)

Base From Goodrich B Treadle Sewing Machine (metal leg assemblies) Sold: $19.99

GOODRICH B Treadle Sewing Machine Parts 4 Oak Drawers

4 oak drawers Sold: $10.50

Contact Treadle On: they have a flea-market for exactly this sort of thing, and can even arrange local pick-up if someone is interested and there's a member in the area/passing through.

you just want to sell it asap, try ebay or the sewing marketplace group - not the sewing newsgroups, which frown mightily on ads of any sort! Sounds like a fun project for an enthusiasts - I wish I was closer and had space for another treadle, but living in a small house in the UK has its limitations...
