Dress recently sold on eBay

If I were young again (and if wishes were horses... yeah, I know!), and had an occasion that required an evening gown, I'd set myself the task of copying this one:

Lovely style. Do what I do: make it for someone else. I've dressed office mates and now nieces. I get the pleasure of creating and seeing my work.

$290 for a dress?!?!? That'd pay for a Fields trip.

Tried to check this photo. It is no longer on ebay. The pictures come up as "x"s.

The seller must have taken the photos down, but I have them saved on my hard drive. They're rather large files, each 200KB plus, and with my dial-up connection would take awhile to transmit (although I may be able to compress them). If you like, later tonight I'll upload them to my webspace and send you the URLs. Just let me know. :)

Thanks. Great photos, Doreen! It almost looks as if one hand is in a pocket in at least one, #5. Emily

WOW! What a cool dress! I especially like the use of tulle as an underskirt and bazoom peek-a-boo feature.

I guess you could hide a pocket in all that tulle (but it might be hard to find). I'm all for pockets, wherever!

I love the chevron effect with stripes! As my mom used to say, ANYONE can make an ordinary-looking dress.

Which is misleading, because we all know the simplest design, when sewn in a slapdash manner, will scream "Homemade." But I do think commercial patterns in recent years, by and large, haven't done much to encourage real dressmaker details. Quick and Easy can be boring!
