Hmmmm.....Suspicious.... ON topic

Did I find out what my C'mas gift is???? On Sat. when I brought the mail in, there was an envelope from Nordic Needle. "Hmmm." I says to myself. "I didn't order anything!" Looked at whom it was addressed to (to whom it was addressed?). DS!

"Now *why* would DS be getting a bill from NN?" I said to myself (I talk to myself a lot! LOL) I put the envelope with the rest of his stuff.

Yesterday said envelope was lying (laying? where is my grammar today?) on the table. Opened. Somehow (don't *know* just how), the envelope flew into my hands and my fingers were forced to spread the envelope layers apart and my eyes were forced to peek. "Hot fudge kit" was what my eyes were forced to see. Hmmmm.

After reading NN's weekly newsletter, my fingers *again* were forced (who's got control of these fingers, anyway????) to click on their link and type "fudge" into their search box. There's only one kit that comes up:

Now, that is a real cute kit. DS must be very observant, noticing you love cross-stitch, AND chocolate!! Good for him.

My DS mailed me a Temari ball kit, but all the instructions are in japanese!!!! I will have to take it back with me when I go to Japan, and have Aya help me out.

AHHHH!!! Gill, I wish I had known when you were in NH. I just started Temaris and DDIL Aya sent me some beautiful fabrics to use. But my instructions involve wrapping with threads. I also got some really neat overdyes and beads from Japan that DD brought back for me.

It's pretty hard for my family to *not* notice my cs & love of chocolate! LOLOL! What's good is that he actually *purchased* something that goes with both my addictions! :)))) I wonder where he saw it? It's not in their catalog.

Well, weren't you just saying in another post you needed to learn some Japanese? Stitching terms will be a good start! ;)

Must be the week for thoughtful DSs!!!! :) Better than last week's times from Hades, since I know there were other people besides me on the group that had a bad week!

I think so, too. :)

Lucky DH!!! Too bad you're taken....I could use a spouse that gives me presents like that! LOL My 35mm camera bit the pavement, literally, a couple months ago and I've been debating on getting a digital. Haven't saved enough money, though.

Golly gee, Joan, what made you think that???LOLOL

On the cheerful side, I have already received travel info from ND and Idaho for next summer's trip, and it is almost more fun planning than going!! Do you happen to know if the AFB on the eastern border of ND is still in operation?? For the life of me, I cannot think of it's name. I know they used to have a FamCamp for us retired military types.

I've had this in the budget for two years. For Christmas we'll go together and get a good printer to go with it. Currently have a 10+ year old black-only laser so not the best for printing pictures even if it is still on its original toner cartridge. Our APS camera went wonky on November 8, 2003. Ever since then it has put that date on every picture so we have to keep a log of everything we shoot so I can relabel them. The display/menu also quit so we can't change the flash settings, get low battery warnings, etc. I do have an old manual-everything-but-flash SLR in the closet but would have to do a major battery replacement and make sure it all works. It would also be more than I could stand to teach DH how to use it. I learned in journalism class in high school but don't think I know it well enough to teach someone else.

Our parents will also be pleased. We go through film rapidly at Christmas but during the rest of the year it can take 3-4 months for us to finish a roll and get it processed. They don't like waiting that long to see pictures of our daughter. It would be particularly nice if we could e-mail them pictures of her opening birthday presents on the day we take them. None of them can come out here for her birthday (nor can we go see them at that time) and I think they feel a bit left out.

No, I know where Minot is, however I will check into that one. Maybe it is at Grand Forks. I have to go out to the RV tomorros, and find our book.

Actually any info on military Famcamps is greatly appreciated!!! We figure any discount sure helps us!!

Sorry, Gillian, thought you just wanted the name of an AFB in ND. Maybe one of these links will help you some:

Thanks, Carey,

i was being a little lazy, I guess. I suspect it is Grand Forks that I was thinking of. I remember we nearly stayed there 10 years ago. With so many military bases closing, I always figure my book is getting outdated soon after I buy it. We have stayed at some FamCamps, and generally speaking they are very nice. I read of a brand-new one opening at Kings Bay, GA on the Sub base!

Thanks for taking the time out to have a look for me!

It's called..... Grand Forks Air Force Base! :)))))) It's about 8 miles west of me. And yes, it's still going. In this last round of base closures they pretty much decided it's going to be switched to a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle--at least I think that's what it stands for) base so in a few years there will be far fewer people (like about 30,000) stationed there. I don't know anything about the FamCamp, though, so I can't help you there. If it's any help, the base's number is 701-747-3000.

There's also an Air National Guard Camp in Fargo, not sure if it has a special name or not.
