Annoyed...on topic

I have more then a few pillow panels that are Nascar. Went shopping today to find something black for sashing. I was hoping for some black tone on tone or something. Nothing flowery or girly as the quilt is for hubby. Do you think I could find any. Even went to one expensive quilt shop where their prices start at $18/meter and nothing. My only other choice was Fabric Land which was having a sale but has cut way back on good cotton, and walmart. Guess what Walmart just got a new shipment and I found some. I couldn't believe it. Not only was I surprised that I found something I liked but that it was good quality stuff. Even though I had checked last week and what they did have was cheap and flimsy. We so need some better shops around here but I doubt it will ever happen.

My only other option was drive at least an hour to the big city. But then I have two little ones to drag along and that's just no fun for anyone. On-line isn't the same in this case I really needed to see and feel what I was buying. Joanna

I've said this before but it may bear repeating. There's a black by RJR called 'confetti'. It has tiny bits of color added to it and is not a 'this is a very serious occasion' sort of black. Buying black online is tricky because, I'm guessing, many of them are re-dyed (over dyed?) with black when something would not sell. The confetti is just right for locomotives, penguins and Nascar pillows. Not that I would ever enable anyone but I see it's on sale at several places just now. I wouldn't be without it. Always willing to be affiliated, Polly

When looking at retirement locations my husband knows that there must be a good quilt store within an hour drive. I am so spoiled to have ten within an hour of my house. Funny the competition doesn't keep prices down. One advantage of living in the suburbs of a big city.
