The short answer is "there isn't one". In fact there are standards that were developed in the 1930s, however almost no ready to wear clothing manufacturer in this country uses the standards. For example, I have 10s,

12s and 14s (with the odd M, L and XL, and 2 and 3) that fit me....

Standards Australia does have a standard measurement for each size - I learnt this when I was involved in doing a contract for health personnel uniforms at work. We decided to use Standards Australia sizes because of the variation in measurements of different sizes made by different manufacturers.

Maybe you can try their website.

Amelia,

not exactly what you want, but this site has info on the current study into sizing standards.

well unless Oz has an across the board industry standard, you are probably out of luck. The US certainly doesn't!!

Australia does have an industry standard for clothing sizes, which is:

10 - 80cm bust, 60cm waist, 85 cm hips 12 - 85, 65, 90 14 - 90, 70, 95

However, most off-the-peg clothes are one size larger (ie. a pair of size 12 jeans in the shop is likely to have the 14 measurements). So if the models have decided their sizes on the basis of what they typically wear, then they will be a size bigger than the standards.

To guarantee that there will be a model that your stuff will fit, I would make for a 90cm bust.

Good luck! Kate
