Got a call from the local guy who does Bernina work and he assures me he's comfortable with the "older" machines. In fact, he's a regional trainer and is doing training for them next week, so will be out of the center a couple of days.
I'm going to bite the bullet and take it in. He said the parts will be under warrant and quoted me a good labor rate. My baby's worth it :)
