better-quality serger thread for cover stitch?

I've been using Maxi-Lock with my cover stitch machine. It's fine for the inside & serging, but it doesn't look that great on the cover stitching. You can see the variation in thread diameter. Anybody have any other recommendations? Regular sewing thread is a bit too heavy.

I wonder if bobbin thread would work? of course then you don't have colors. I have a bernina and just use regular thread for the top stitches.

dku scrawled in bright red lipstick:

what are you talking about? Clear monofilament or what? I've never heard of "bobbin thread".

What's bobbin thread? I usually wind my bobbins from my matching thread spool.

I have a bernina and just use regular thread for the top

A bernina cover stitch machine? Mine doesn't seem to like the regular weight thread (Mettler, Guetermann, etc).

Good idea...I am wondering if I shouldn't try some kind of machine embroidery thread.

Thanks, have it circled in my catalog. ;D

I use bobbin thread in my home embroidery machine. It's lightweight poly thread sold in large spools, or in prewounds, usually in black or white. I have seen colors sold, but I forget where. Good bobbin thread really makes a difference in machine embroidery. I use the NEB prewounds. But for regular sewing I wind my bobbins in the usual way from the same thread I am using for the top.
