I saw a box of left-over "empty eggshells" in the narthex of the church today, which reminded me that darning-egg buying season is probably over. I'm well supplied with plastic eggs, so it doesn't matter. (I did buy a Resse's peanut-butter egg yesterday. It was very tasty.)
An egg meant to be filled with candy provides a place to stash a needle, thimble, and darning yarn, and they come in sizes to suit all jobs.
Tools in the egg, egg in the sock, sock in a newspaper sleeve, sleeve in the go bag, and I'm all set for unexpected waits.
I weave the needle into a scrap of wool fabric to make it easier to keep track of.
