Am constantly amazed by the prices some people are willing to pay forvintage sewing/embroidery threads. You know, the stuff on wooden spoolsthat is 40 or more years old.Always thought that "old" thread was dry, brittle and likely to breakduring sewing and or make for not very long lasting seams. Know manypeople think, "things were made better back then", myself included. Butfor certain items just think it is more bother than it's worth. I have a spool of linen thread so fine that I have to use it double. I bought it from a sutler during Back to the Days of Koscuiosko. Many re-enactment "sutlers" also have Web sites, but I don't know which ones have good linen thread. I'd start looking at Wm. Booth, Draper.

I see. That explains it. You are buying old spools of thread not as thread but as "objets trouves" for inclusion in art projects. That makes more sense.
