Fun at the start of the day

I read the newspaper, pretty much cover-to-cover each morning. I especially enjoy it when one of my favorite comics hits the mark, like this one from this morning:

My DH *never* objected to going to the fabric store, he knew how much money we saved over the years, with my sewing almost all my clothes, as well as most of the DDs' and many of his.

And he often went alone, just to bring home something special he knew I would make up just for him.

But Grandpa Pickles is still very funny....

Love it, Beverly!! DS has never complained about taking me fabric shopping, he takes his XM radio and earphones, along with something to read while I'm shopping. Emily

My gracious you folks are blessed! I can't even imagine in my wildest dreams getting my hubby to enter a fabric store, or take me shopping-- umm, *anywhere*!! (Can you say "Two-Car Household?" I knew you could.) He hates malls, hates crowds, hates shopping. But I get the best of both worlds- I get to shop, and I get to make all the shopping decisions MYSELF using MY best judgement, and I get to take my own sweet time about it!!! LOL

I have to wonder if it was the fabric store or the sister he was objecting to?

I don't know if blessed is the right word. My husband doesn't have to come to the fabric store with me and in exchange I am exempt from outtings to Best Buy, Circuit City and Radio Shack. Works for us...

Dang but you're lucky!! Hubby insists on going along everywhere. He doesn't necessarily interfer in decisions but he sure can be a pest. AK in PA

Not only was my DH good about fabric shopping, but he did *all* of our grocery shopping for many years. Started when I began a new job that required I work on Saturdays, so I would make a list and he shopped, and put everything away. ;-) I retired in '75 but he still continued with the grocery shopping, because he was so good at it. After *he* retired, we resumed grocery shopping together but he was much better at it then I was/am.

Careful what you wish for.

My husband and I have an agreement. He doesn't complain about the amount of time it takes me in fabric/craft stores, and I don't complain about the amount of time he spends in hardware/tool stores. Works for us! Linda

BUt.. but... but... hardware and tool stores are realy interesting, too!

Melinda, who doesn't have a DH who cares one way or another about where she spends her time or who would want her to come with him anywhere and always feels jealous of those who do

My hubby doesn't complain. And when we need something from the hardware/lumber yard [read Home Depot or Rona store] I usually go along. I love those places, always have. I jokingly say "we're on a hardware store date" and we might get coffee there [Rona is Canadian, and often has a Tim Horton's coffee shop instead. Tim's used to be Canadian, but is now owned by Wendy's [sigh]].

Those were the days, Cara! I envy you since I used to do that, too, till I had to give up driving. DS never complains about the time I take or what I buy, but then I would never say anything about his guitars or the jams he attends. Emily

heehee, my DH enjoys looking at the fabric, but can't tolerate the standing in line to get stuff cut! He'll go wander around a neighboring store during that part. Grandpa Pickles just hasn't perfected the fabric store techniques!

the problem with that is I'm the one who spends time in both those stores! (all our power tools were *mine* before we met!) Earlier thiss week he went to WM down the hill while I shopped at Home Depot. If only I could convince him this means *he* needs to do the vacuuming!

Oooh, I admire you, Nann. I'm afraid of power tools, except for a cordless drill. I have a standing rule that I refuse to use any mechanical/electrical tool that will kill me or injure me severely if I use it wrong. (The car is excepted!!) If I have to cut a piece of wood, I either get out the appropriate hand-saw, or I get someone else to do it. Thankfully, my Hubby is handy with tools, or I'd be in bind sometimes. :-P :-D
