Help please with invisible zips

Hi there, I wondered if anybody could give me some idiotproof instructions about inserting an invisble zip, none of my sewing books has any instructions!!! When I went to sewing classes a couple of years ago I inserted one then and found it fairly easy, but I have since forgotten (must be the hormones!!) I havesince purchased an invisible zipper foot for my machine. TIA Cheryl

Personally, I tack everything in place with a dab of sewing glue - but not near the teeth of the zipper. Pins make everything all rumply and I'm so damn tired of bleeding. Also, don't forget to iron the invisible zipper "open" (and of course unzipped) and it will be a lot easier. If you look close enough you'll see the weave on the zipper tape changes when it gets real close to the teeth... like 1/16" of an inch. I don't stitch into that, because then you're too close to the teeth and the zipper won't close. Hope this makes sense and is helpful in some way :)

I make superhero costumes and use invisible zippers in spandex a lot. By tacking them in place first, I can line up my pattern nice and perfect before ever stitching.

And the hidden zipper foot usually comes with instructions, too. That's all I've ever gone by, and I'll take a hidden zipper any day, over a regular one. I just find them so much easier to put in.
