How to tell type of thread?

Hello,

Along with the Singer 301A came lots of unmarked threads. Is there any easy way to figure out which type they are? (100% cotton/polyester or cotton with polyester core). I want to use mainly 100% polyester with outdoor projects, due to strength, but would like to use thread I already have instead of purchasing.

Thanks,

Nate

Thanks. There are some labeled as 100% polyester and they seem pretty strong.

Yes, I it came with about 15 or 20 wooden spools, quite nice looking. I'm not using those though.
