If it's any interest to anyone here, I'm very lucky with an excellent resource in nearby Norwich (UK)

What I found so interesting is that there is so much cross over in gender with clothing. A lot of people get so caught up in what's mens clothing and what's womens.I think you can look at any article of clothes and research it and find that it really doesn't have gender. Sometimes men wear it, sometimes women. I also find it fascinating that clothes are used to both adorn and hide the body. I prefer to adorn it.I'm sure that make me a heretic in some societies. I love to see people in comfortable, well fitting clothing that enhances their appearance. Juno

Juno , you have found my `underfsurf` theme, in my article, Besides the Extremely interesting facts i found about the clothing item mooving between the genders,, [and the langugae relations]. I used to say in my lectures that by teaching Textile history one can teach ALL history. By looking at how and why people wore ceratin form of clothes one can learn about their own culture and the imposed cultures... Take the matter of hats in South America, that we now consider `part of their NATIONAL custume`, When the Spanish came to south America , they wanted to have control over the people and know where they belong to, Thus they gave each village a form for a Hat , which people from that village had to wear ,,, [usually it was only one format , thus everybody wears the one size ] . You aren`t a heretic, you think FREE , and democratic. And still i will not go bare shoulders etc, in some areas , so i won`t disrespect the local population , when i come to their neighbourhood. mirjam

One of the most interesting professors I had in graduate school taught all History classes through the art of that times. There was always a crowd in his classes, we loved it. Emily
