looking for a 3' by 5 to 6' sewing mat for pinning patterns to protect table top. Fold up for storage would be nice. Maybe 1/8" thick

how about using a sheet of foamcore? it's cheap and very lightweight...
I've seen a fold-up cardboard mat in the notions sections of JoAnns. Not sure of measurements, but I'd imagine it'd be about what you are looking for.
