Lining pants

I want to try making some lined trousers and need suggestions as to what fabric to use. The first fabric is a cashmere wool blend, medium weight. The second is a crepe. I want to avoid anything that will create static cling and hopefully have something that breathes.

any suggestions appreciated.

China silk would probably be the classic choice. Personally, I like pretty linings, so would probably use a blouse-weight silk print - which is what I use for lining skirts, vests etc.

Bemberg rayon is an excellent choice for lining wool pants. It breathes, and adds more body than china silk. If you prefer silk, I'd use a silk broadcloth. Karen Maslowski in Cincinnati

Oops, I hit the "send" button too quickly!

You can also make a pants liner, rather than line both pair of pants. That way, you can wear one liner with both pants.

I have a pair made from silk/Lycra charmeuse that are incredibly comfortable.

Hope this helps!

Silk habotai. You can dye it to match!

At a store in Tulsa that is, sadly, no longer in business. But I've seen it on the silkconnection.com website in natural, and maybe black.

It isn't much, maybe 5-10%, but it's just enough give to make it comfy.

I have to admit, though, that I end up wearing them to bed rather than as pantsliners. They just feel luxurious to sleep in, and that little bit of give is nice, too. I hate getting tied up in my jammies!
