altering kids PJ pattern to slumber sack pattern? HELP for Christmas please!!!

I would love to make my girls some "Slumber Sacks" as seen in the Plow and Hearth catalog or on their website under apparel. They are basically fleece PJ's, except more like a "penguin style" to the bottom. A sack with ribbed cuff ankle openings if you will. They are very pricey at $45-55 ea.

However, I cannot find a pattern to make my own. The closest thing I can find is Butterick #3645 jumpsuit and McCalls #3860 Easy jumpsuit. Is it possible to alter this pattern to make a sack bottom PJ? Would it be as easy as just sewing the fronts and backs together instead of sewing legs and a crotch? How would I attach the ribbed ankle cuff without a leg to sew it on? ANY advice is appreciated!!!

Thanks to all in advance from a desperate sewer!!!

Penny,

Thanks very much for that info. The kwik sew pattern you mentioned does not come in children's sizes. Do you know of any that do? Thanks again.

um. I think I"d just whack off the length and the sleeves.... I made them for my boys when they were both around 5' tall using hte adult "S". It's not like fit is **real** important......

good luck

I'm pretty sure a year or so ago, I saw a pattern for this from KwikSew. I can't recall the # though.
