We found our doggie when our kitty had run away from home (and ended up getting captured and held prisoner by a neighborhood kid who liked her
-- one Saturday afternoon 3 weeks later when he was gone for the weekend, his brother called and said, "My brother has had your cat here; come pick her up before he gets back home and I'll never tell that you have her back.") and when we went to the pound to file a missing kitty report, where we were told that if we didn't see her after a week, she had probably gotten captured by a raccoon -- the racoons in this neighborhood are easily twice her size, and I am not kidding -- I have seen them myself -- we found this terrified doggie in the pound. Two days later when she was available for adoption, we were waiting at the pound an hour before it opened, and Winnie (as in Winnie the Pooch) came home with us. That was 8 years ago.
