Overlocker problem solved!

Thanks everyone for your help. I've finally done it.

My husband cleaned and oiled the machine I sacrificed one needle and half a yard of material Left it alone for a day and a half And threaded it with some of my nicer thread.

I've just tried it out three times and it looks like all is well. Phew!

Thanks once again. :o)

I think I may have spoken too soon. After one rolled hem, it's playing up again!

This time it seems to be a recurring problem though. The 3rd thread, the needle closest to the main body of the machine works for about 18 inches, then somehow catches on the stitches that already have been made, and stops sewing leaving a thread trailing alongside the stitching.

At least the problem is consistant now though. I'm classing that as an improvement. *lol*

I'm going to sacrifice another needle and a bit more material and see what happens.

I've had this problem. with my Janome 634D. I found that if you just unthread the whole dP(*&)(*& thing and start over that usually does the trick--symptoms you have may not necessarily be the whole problem.

Sarah:

Check the needle plate for any burrs that may be catching the thread(s), especially the area where the stitches form. Make sure the needle(s) around which the stitches form are not bent or broken. Also check the loopers for burrs.
