Parrot Costume - Alice in Wonderland

Oct 22, 2003 2 Replies

My son (age 11) has got the part of Lory (the Parrot) in his school's Xmas show. (Alice)

I am looking for costume ideas or source of patterns for a Parrot costume !

Any ideas/suggestions appreciated as I cannot find much on web searches or ready made on e-bay

Thanks

If all else fails:

If you cannot find a regular costume, try layering brightly-colored fabric "feathers" over a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt with matching pants. Wings can be made by making the shapes out of some heavier fabric, also layered with the "feathers". A rolled-up orange craft paper cone can be the beak.

Use something like McCall's pattern 4225, and add wings. Use felt or fabric in a layer pattern for feathers. Sweatpants for the legs, felt spats for the feet. How elaborate does the costume have to be? You could probably fine feather boas cheap after Halloween!?! What kind of ideas does your son have? siobhan
