Permanent creases?

Guys, and gals, I have a request from a serviceman/client of mine that I hadn't a clue about, so I thought I'd throw this out for group wisdom:

he asks me: Anyway, they are really freaky here about having military creases ironed into our uniforms and I'm LAZY! I was hoping you could help me out..... I seem to recall a product that was a liquid w/ a needle-like applicator that I could put on the inside of my creases that would make them more or less permanent. it was sorta like a glue that left no residue or stain.. Do you have any idea what I'm talking about and what the product name is and where I could get some?

ideas anyone?

Heard a tip a long time ago, probably can 'Google for it.

It uses vinegar when ironing the creases.

I think it was undiluted to set the crease. Diluted to take the crease out. Maybe someone else knows of this method. It's cheap at least.

Yes, vinegar works wonders to set creases in!! I used to use it when I wore dress pants to work. After the initial pressing using the vingegar, the crease needed very little ironing.

I think it would be very difficult to get a perfect straight line with a liquid. But it would be fairly easy to sew a straight line using fusible thread in the bobbin and dissolving thread in the needle. Fold along the line and press (hard and hot) to fuse the crease, and the dissolving thread will dissappear with a damp cloth or (better) washing.

Or, he could press the crease, tuck the fusible inside it, and press again. He'd have to make sure the thread was right up against the crease.

Just don't lick that dissolving thread to help it go through the needle's eye! BT,DT LOL!

I used undiluted plain white vinegar to keep the creases sharp in my uniform shirt sleeves, my ex's uniforms and also both DSs ROTC uniforms, through out HS and college, never a problem. A gallon is almost always in my pantry for all kinds of uses. Emily .

I believe what you are asking about is called Clover Fabric Folding Pen. I first saw it at a sewing machine show, it was a Husqvarna Viking Gallery show. When they demonstrated it, we all were so amazed, it's like magic and it makes a very sharp crease. However, it does not work on impermeable fabrics such as polyester. Everyone wanted one which they had to order. Clover is distributed in USA by Clover Needlecraft. Inc.; Carson, CA

90746-3620 I do not see a web site nor a telephone no. Sorry. You might try a Sewing Machine dealer to see if they have them or could order you one. Good Luck. Wanda
