I'd like to plan a get-together-dinner at 6pm on Friday, November 3rd at the City Center Grill in the Marriott hotel. I need to know who'd like to come as they will require reservations.
Sooz, even if you just "think" you can make it, I'll add you to the list. If for some reason at the last minute you cannot, don't sweat it, my behind can easily take up the extra chair! =o)
I'd like to come. Carol Ann (hopkins) will be in another state visiting family at the time and can't come to BABE. I'll make sure that Soozie see this.
````````````````````````````````````````` I would LOVE to come! And yes, I'll have to retain the cancel-at-the-last-minute clause. I got taken away by an ambulance last night! WOO HOO!! For intractable pain. It just got unbearable. They did a sonogram, exam, etc. and then gave me some lovely dilaudid. I haven't been that pain-free in 19 YEARS. I'm telling you, I can see how people become dependent on such things when they're really screwed up physically (or mentally). I was SO grateful to them for injecting me!! I can't even DESCRIBE it, because I don't know what not being in pain is like anymore -- don't remember it. The concept is something I can't wrap my head around, not even after last night.
Oh -- and I had a cute male nurse. Olivier. He's French.
Sooz -- I'm just glad you are feeling better today. And I will be there with you, at the dinner, if you need to leave or anything. I can drive us both. What I'm trying to say is, I will be there to take care of you should you need anything. You know I am dependable.
hi all well, i can tell you, reserve 2 for jon and me...we are a set now, and i think he is thinking shaun will be there... i'm counting down the time now! pat
Hi Patti....what's a few thousand miles between friends, eh? LOL Wish you could come anyway.
BeadFest was okay...sorta. The change of venue was bad news. The new location was an old phone company building that housed both the maintenance stuff and the offices. All 5,500 employees were laid off on the same day. =o/ Poor folks!
When I walked into the building it just felt wrong. I tried hard to shake the feeling, but you know, 5,500 bummed out people are a bit stronger than me.
The classrooms were held downstairs. I couldn't even go down there without the hair raising on the back of my neck. Not sure what the deal was with that, and I didn't care to investigate it either.
The promoters had also added a large chunk of new exhibitors from the prior year as well since the hall was so huge. They also had the aisles between the booths super far apart. Which would have been great if the show were swamped. But because it was so slow, it just made the vast expanses seem even bigger.
Add to all of that the fact that MapQuest had no clue where the place was, and even some of the local residents couldn't find it and it made for a not so good show for many.
As always, I am grateful for anything we do, and won't complain about our final totals, but I do know several vendors didn't even make their booth fees. That's always a bummer.
So, anywho, we're waiting to hear if they change the venue. If they do, we'll try it again.
I'm looking forward to BABE! now. And I really need to get my stuff together for this year as I am also teaching a class there.
Oh I hope you are feeling much better by now, Sooz!
I have to say, I spent a good twenty years of my life in pain, and wasn't even aware how bad it was until *after* my surgery, when they removed the offending stuff. Amazing how the mind will help protect you from the actual severity of something.
I'm glad you'll be making an effort to join us. And please don't feel you need to push yourself beyond your means to do so. But the chair will be available.
Shoot! Maybe next year a few of you right coasters could band together to attend...share rooms and all that. It really is a fun show, and so much less expensive than many of the others. Plus you'd be in the heart of California....so much to see and do it's crazy!
There you are sweets! I've been looking for your RSVP! And yes, Shawn will be there....that way Jon won't have to flirt with all the woman by himself! Hehehehe!
Here's are new list then: KatieLiz Cisco Pam Christi (not confirmed) Arline + 5 more from central CA Tracy Jennifer Janae Amy Myself Shawn Natalie (employee) Sara (daughter and forced laborer...hehe) Shawna (ditto) Becki Sooz Pat Jon
