Pic of 1st Serger Project! (link to pic)

Here is a picture (link) of my first serger project! My 6yo DD's halloween costume! She is a princess (duh). All we now are a "magic star wand" and "a sparkly crown" and "maybe some wings" (her words of course!)

So I know its not exactly coture, but its kinda cute! Don't mind that the sleeves look wonky, the big grown up hanger kinda ruins the puff effect.

That kind of metallic stuff is usually not easy to work with on the serger and keep so nicely smooth. Actually, even on a astandardm machine it tends to do funny little puckery tricks. You did a beautiful job!! I love the sweet girly costume. Joy in Michigan

Thanks! I cheated, I used fusible interfacing. first I cut it the same size as the metallic junk, then I trimmed the edges 1/4". I laid the metallic junk face down, then laid the fusible down on that, covered with an old tea towel and pressed it. the iron melts the metallic stuff if it touches it. Voila! Instant results. I didn't need it to be stretchy anyways, so I figured I would make life easier!

I am glad you like it! I even did some gathering for the tulle on my serger, except the bottom of the skirt I did on my regular machine because I wanted it very gathered for pouffiness and I don't have a gathering foot for my serger. On my sewing machine I just pleated, pushed, pinched and fought with the tulle until it was the way I wanted.
