Well, it's either bright sunshine or chucking it down in dollops here today! But the customer loved her frock! I have a little bit to do on her jacket (finish off the seam ends and press it!, and a little envelope clutch bag to make for her, for a week tomorrow...
The floaty wedding dress is also almost complete: the inevitable bit of hem to sort, and one other minor fidget to do with a strap. Next week she's bringing a flower and some velvet ribbon for the sash...
I still have a stack of cut out bits for my friend, but they have no real date on them, so that's OK! Several T shirts and a pair of gouchos. And I have a couple of bought pairs of crop pants to hemn up for her as she's very short. She runs me round all over in the car, to swimming and what have you, so I do them for love, not cash! :D
I dug through the loft yesterday and fished out some fabric, and chose... Well, several years ago I bought 2 or 3 Indian ladies salwar kamese suits sets of fabric: you know, a patterned bit for the tunic, a plain bit fopr the trousers, and a gauzy bit for a scarf. Well, from one of these sets I chose the georgette scarf bit, and with a little fidgetingh, and using the woven pattern down the sides as a decorated band across the top, I managed to cut out a party frock for me! I used the plain satin bit as lining, and have left the brocady bit 'for later'. :D I shall fling that together this afternoon, now I can take the purple thread off Bernie!
Miss Havisham's wedding dress is at the toile stage: pattern drafted and toile cut, ready to fling together this pm. Fitting 9 am Friday morning (I wasn't going to do anything sewing on Friday, especially not work, but my disabled customer has to come when she can get a lift, so... She's too nice and the project too much fun not to do this little thing for her! :D I dyed the cotton for the under layers last week, and ordered the silk for the top layer yesterday morning: it arrived today! Yay for Joel & Son of Church Street, London. Hm... Lookee here! A wee crowny thingy on their stationary! 'By Appt. to HM Queen Elizabeth II' no less! No wonder they are so good! But I did ring them up and tell them how delightful their silk chiffon georgette is when I saw it. Light as snowflakes, rich as ivory, and seriously delicious to work with! I'm most blessed in my customers right now!
I have 2 large chooks to roast, a large chunk of ham to boil, some butter nut squash and goats cheese strudels, low fat sausage rolls, and a batch of cakes and tarts to make for the party. I think a chocolate tart with cinnamon crust, a couple of Yorkshire cheese tarts, a Bakewell tart, a chocolate rum gateau, and maybe a pavlova or some macaroons... Oh, what jolly fun! As if I need a legitimate excuse to get sticky! :D On Friday we collect a whale. Well, really it's a large salmon, which I'll poach. I once wanted a large fish kettle for Christmas. Mum thought I was mad, but it gets used quite a lot! On Saturday we'll fling together a mountain of salads, a vat of fresh fruit salad, and I'll bake a pile of bread rolls.
Oh, and we have a footpath to lay! :D :D :D
