Singer Vs Kenmore

Nov 29, 2003 4 Replies

I recently got a singer 2517 from the blackfriday sale for 90/- from target. New to sewing and just wanted to get some thoughts of wheather i should go for kenmore as some people told me that singer is not that reliable compared to kenmore, any comments will be appreciated,

thanx

I only know what I have heard and read, but supposedly the newer Singers are not up to snuff. Kenmore is currently being made by Janome, which is supposed to be a decent brand. I also have not heard anything bad about Kenmore. I recently purchased a top of the line Kenmore and am quite happy with it so far.

HTH,

The new Singer TOL machines - the Quantum series - are supposed to be very, very good machines. The lower ones are unlikely to be worth having. It's also quite likely that they are made in a different factory, by a different company. IIRC, Singer has no factories any more.

Any machine that cost you $90 new is going to be of basically the same quality regardless of the brand.
