sucked into the sale

The irresistible force of a one-day sale at Joann's, complete with extra

10% off entire purchase coupon, was my big to-do today (other than pack and get ready for a small day-trip with DH and DD). Patterns were flying out of the bins like leaves off of trees in an autumn gale. Of course, the natural law of "the more you want it, the less likely it is to be there" was holding true today. The only pattern that I wanted was not there, so I made up for it by buying 5 others that were interesting. My DD was being very good (for a 2 year old) so we were able to whisk through my list quickly. As we were leaving, another mother with kids in tow anxiously asked "Did you just come from Joann's? Was it really bad?" Obviously she was one experienced with the carnage that can accompany a big sale so close to Halloween pattern making time. I must admit though, without these big sales, I'd probably find home sewing too expensive to justify on a limited budget. Joann's might be TSWLTH, but I for one am glad that they often discount patterns to $1 each, even if it means having to circle the pattern bins like sharks after a wounded seal. Now, they need to invent the 25hour day to get all these projects done!

Julia,

Wal-Mart matched their competitor's ads, so I usually take my Joann's ad to Wal-Mart. You are more likely to f> The irresistible force of a one-day sale at Joann's, complete with extra

Julia,

That just means that youdid my shopping for me. Because of various reasons of one form or another, I am *not* making it to the sale today .....well, I haven't yet, but after the behavior of DS I may just head there to take a look at things.....most likely no spending though....an additional 10% off covers the sales tax here (now up to

7.25%), so that would still mean $20 for the fabric for DH and DS costumes), but not much else.

I will live vicariously through your shopping experience.

This is the best idea. I have done this with other stores that promise to match (or beat) any advertised sale. Therein lies the key - be sure to take the ad with you to show the cashier. I kept my boys in Wranglers this way for years.
