THANKS! Beverly. I don't go to their store often enough, I suppose, since I no longer receive their ads in the mail.

My almost 12-YO DGD is getting so tall, I'm in need of getting her some new patterns. By the time the 2-older DGD were her size, they wore jeans & RTW tee-shirts most of the time, no slacks, blouses or vests.

However, this one prefers slacks w/ blouses or dresses; I'm certain her Mom has influenced her, but that's okay because it means I can continue sewing for her a while longer.

After I see the eye doctor next week, I'll go to TSWLTH, afterwards to a nearby favorite restaurant and Half-Price Books.

You're welcome, Emily.

I get their mailed ads in addition to ones they insert in the local Sunday newspaper, so I hardly ever pay full price. Even if I don't find fabric I like I can always use some

40%-off needles. ;-)

YAY! My DGD is fast approaching the age when she will no longer want "Grandma Made" clothes. Happily, I expect she'll be making a lot of her own from now on.

Sounds like a lovely day, as long as the eye-doc appointment is nothing serious. I was disappointed in the online Vogue patterns, so I'll check the McCalls to see what I can find.

I have to say, I no longer buy patterns. Since I invested in pattern drafting software - my choice is Pattern Master Boutique by Wild Ginger - I can draw up anything I like, right here in the comfort of home.

Does anyone here get the Hancock ads to let me know when their patterns are on sale? Barbara in SC

Barbars, I don't get ads from either store anymore, since I've almost quit buying patterns or fabric from them anymore. But DD in Memphis does; I'll ask her when I e-mail her later today. She does most of her sewing needs from them still, even though TSWLTH opened their first store in Memphis last year. She still prefers Hancock's; after all, it was the only store she's had to shop for over 20-years.

Have you checked their web site; I believe it has all the sales on it.

Thanks Pam! Barbara "

That probably is an error in writing. IIRC, most of the Simplicity sales at Hancock's are limited to 10 per customer.

Thanks Emily. I'm probably only going to get 1 or 2 anyway! I've been know to spend an hour looking through the pattern books to find the :right" patterns. I don't let anyone go with me. Ha, I don't think anyone 'would' go with me if I am looking for just the right pattern. Barbara

I usually go alone when shopping, unless it is a RTW outfit for one of the grandchildren; DS likes to go, and he ends up making the final choice. He has an eye for what looks good and the kids are always pleased.

I have been known to shop a couple hours, never leaving the pattern dept. Now I do the actual shopping at home online, then I take my current list of brands & numbers with me anytime I am out and about.
